When you’re the best of friends

OUr little dog has made friends with a elephant puppet. This puppet makes elephant sounds and I really think that Princess believes it’s real. Princess shows some jealous traits when you show Elly attention. The other day I caught her giving Elly a bath. So I guess this is a case of The Elephant and the Hound.

God’s little miracles

We have really enjoyed the goodies that come from our garden. It is definetly a miracle that a little dried seed can provide an abundance of healthy food.

We did it!

I would just like to report that we met our goal for Rally Day 2008! We had a total of 155. Whew it was close. I counted up after church that if the ones that were missing (regular attendees) we would have had a total of 180. Oh well, at least we were able to get a piece of that brownie. Majesty from PVBI was with us for the day.

Rally Day 2007

Rally Day 2007 theme was “Camp I Can”. We talked about being able to do all things through Christ, who gives us strength. Every child had a bandana and received badges for participating in each activity.  We even had a drill Sargent, who would say …example… Can you sing? We would answer… Yes sir! We can sing. We also wrote up a cadence that went along with our theme.  We played a review game, sang songs, we had scripture quizzes, listened to a Bible story, and had a skit. The kids still talk about how Mr. Mills fell out of the canoe. (part of the skit) :)

Tomorrow we are taking our youth to a corn roast. Stay posted for pictures.

Open wide

Today we worked on our 16ft brownie for Rally Day which is Sunday.  Our goal is 150 which is achievable. We had 137 last Sunday and are hoping for a good attendance. It seems that a lot of our bus parents are planning on attending. If we reach our goal of 150 people present, everyone will get a piece of the 16ft brownie. If not, the brownie will be given to the city mission.

Last year we made a 16ft. candy bar. The kids were not quite sure what to think when we kept telling them about it. But on Sunday morning, when it was lifted from behind the alter, you should have seen the wide eyes and the gasps. The funny thing was, it had to pass over some heads  to get it out of the sanctuary.

We are excited about Rally Day! God always helps and it’s another avenue for inviting friends and family to church.

Girls Club

Tonight was girls club. We had some new members join. Our project tonight was making Hurricane Relief packages to send to our Haitian Pastors for distribution. Our girls were able to make 15 packages. Our church is making up 50+ more to send.
Our girls seem to have fun. Our lesson revolved around missions and how that once we’ve asked Jesus to forgive us of our sins then we too become missionaries.

Our packages includes…
-baby wipes
-a wash cloth
-powder
-travel size shampoo
-travel size toothpaste
-toothbrush
-tissues
-a first aid kit
-lotion
-granola bar
-slim jims and
-aspirin

May this teach our girls to give instead of always taking

We Remember

Today, my heart is thankful and grateful to all those who gave their lives for my freedom 7 years ago. They may be gone but they are not forgotten.

Thanks to all the men and women who are still fighting to keep us free. God bless America!

This came in as a comment so I thought I’d pass it on to South Dakota

I’d like to say Congrats to my old roomate Liz(Philmeck)Mills on the birth of twins! Liz when we roomed together I don’t think our minds would have ever thought of all the ways that God would lead in our lives. ICan’t wait to see a pic of the little ones.-Cara
